Dawol Homes is now a member of the US Department of Energy's Builders Challenge. As a member of the program, Dawol commits to building Green homes and supports the programs larger goal of builders across America building 220,000 highly efficient homes by 2012.
Dawol already has shown a strong commitment to Green Building as owner, David Wolons became a Certified Green Professional in 2008. Further, Dawol Homes is on the Advisory Commitee for the Coastal Green Council.

Dawol Homes recently completed 2 Energy Star certified homes in The Gates. These homes were tested at over 20% better energy efficiency than a home build with standard Building Code materials.
To create better Energy Efficiency, we used higher rated windows, thicker insulation, higher SEER HVAC, more thorough thermal breaks, and did extra sealing at any openings. Energy Star homes are also very "Green", which creates a healthier environment both inside and outside of the house!

Villas Unbelievable Energy Star Rating

Dawol Homes' new single family Villas recently were scored HERS ratings of less than 75 by a Certified energy rater. The HERS scores are designed to rate a home's energy efficiency. 100 would equate to a typical home with basic building code features. Each point below represents a percentage point of improvement. Therefore, these homes are expected to be 25% better in energy efficiency than other homes!

It's spring time and we're hearing more and more customers asking about how to keep out the pollen from their rear porches.
Dawol often encloses rear porches with 4 track enclosures. The 4 tracks offer a way to close you porch during bad weather, but open it back up during nicer weather.

With the entire month being new homes month - it's a great time to talk about the benefits of building a new home.
Here are 3 quick reasons:
1) New Homes are built with increasingly higher engineering standards which makes for a stronger home
2) New Homes are more energy efficient. Higher SEER HVAC, better windows, etc have contributed to lower energy consuming homes. Energy Star and other programs have helped give a standardized model for achieving savings

Across the beach, it seems builders have seen a pick up in activity in the last few months.
Dawol Homes is starting new projects includinga New custom home in Barefoot Resorts at Oak Pointe. Dawol is also building in Loris , South Carolina and is working up plans for a new home in The Battery .
